We have an opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join our Extended People team based in the Beacon School, one of our large and established Secondary Schools.
Your opportunity
We are looking to appoint someone who has an HR qualification or equivalent experience, combined with an interest and understanding of payroll management, to join The Beacon School as a HR People Operations Advisor. Although not essential, the successful candidate will have experience working within a school environment, and will work as part of the regional people team, led by the Regional People Partner, to deliver an expert service to our schools, including:
- Carrying out HR People administration duties across a range of People activities, including data management and reporting, compliance and general People administration
- Undertaking recruitment and on-boarding administration, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures, particularly with regard to safer recruiting
- Maintaining regular and effective communications with a range of school colleagues and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Communicating and actioning payroll information to our provider timely and accurately
- Providing advice to colleagues to support a successful resolution on first line HR queries such as employment terms and conditions and GLF’s policies and procedures.
This role will be primarily based at The Beacon School, with an occasional need to support other schools, when required. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have:
- An HR qualification Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP) or other relevant qualification, or a Level 3 (or above) HR qualification, or equivalent experience.
- A good awareness and understanding of People administration, to ensure compliance with regulation and procedures
- Previous school experience
- Experience managing payroll authorisation and submission procedures
- The ability to prioritise and organise workloads to tight and changing deadlines

The Details:
Start date: 6th January 2024 – Handover days to be arranged in December 2024
Contract type: Permanent
Pay Scale: GLF Senior Specialist £33,426 - £45,719.23 (FTE)
Annual pay (pro-rata): £30,230.86 - £42,097.05
Working hours: 36 hours per week, 41 weeks a year (term time plus 2 weeks)
