GLF Teacher training has training venues in Surrey and Oxford/Reading, offering locally delivered teacher training in a range of routes from fee-funded pathways to those with teaching experience who may be suited to one of our employment-based routes.

About the Role: 

We are excited to offer aspiring teachers a fantastic opportunity to join GLF’s Trainee Teacher Programme. As part of our GLF Teacher Training Hub you’ll receive exceptional training, support, and a choice of training routes, from our employment-based routes, to our fee-funded routes, where you could pay trainee fees by a student loan, or potentially receive a training bursary.  

As a trainee at GLF, you'll be part of a supportive team where your professional development, well-being, and workload will be prioritised. You'll gain hands-on experience in various school settings that work for you, including GLF’s nurseries and primary and secondary schools within our Trust.

Qualifications  

To be eligible for this teacher training route you will have the following qualifications: 

• A degree awarded by a UK higher education provider or recognised equivalent qualification. (For Secondary courses at least 50% of your degree will be in the subject you wish to teach.) 
• Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, and (Science for Primary routes only) 
• Demonstrate you hold the right to work and study in the UK and have been a resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years. 
• A Degree 2:2 or above (may accept a 3rd class or ordinary degree in particular circumstances) 
• For employment-based training routes, classroom teaching experience will be required as you will be teaching from day one of the course, alongside a school to offer an employment contract. 
• For stage 2 of the application process, you will need to complete a DfE application form to train to teach and meet all criteria for entry into Initial Teacher Training. 

Funding/Salary 

GLF also offer unpaid training routes, but you can apply for: 

• Tuition fee loans to cover all your course fees. 
• Maintenance loans of up to £13,022 to help with living costs. 
• Some secondary subject also comes with a tax-free bursary paid by the Department for Education directly to the candidate to offset the cost of training.

• GLF also offers an unqualified teacher salary and if on an apprenticeship, fully paid training fees for those candidates with at least one year of teaching experience who have successfully applied for our postgraduate teacher apprenticeship or salaried routes and have a school willing to offer them a post.
